Editing “Island Hoppers” … a new Message Matters client

Those of you who know me know I’m passionate about scuba diving.

How appropriate, then, that my first business client for Message Matters, should be an outstanding Nashville scuba operation, Island Hoppers Scuba. Today we wrapped up editing three “video vignettes” that combine client testimonials, soundbites from Rob Harris (the owner of Island Hoppers), video of the shop and classes, and some incredible photographs and underwater video.

Rob embedded links to those videos directly in his website. Studies show that retailers who include video clips on their websites keep customers on their site for longer periods of time.  He’ll be tracking this to see if it also brings them through his doors!

You can view the videos right now, here.

“Message Matters” … the planning session

I’m on my way home (Southwest Airlines, on-time!) after a terrific, full-day planning meeting at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia.

It’s been an absolute honor to work with the admission and communications offices at Episcopal for a number of years. At the end of last year, I produced five “video vignettes” to celebrate the launch of “The Promise,” Episcopal’s new campaign.  Now, we’re beginning the process of planning for a new admission video that will be shot over the course of the upcoming academic year.

Today was the day to define the message we will present, the people we will interview, the visuals we’ll shoot (including the wonderful new facilities opening this fall) and the audiences we want to reach. It’s the beginning of a great collaborative effort!

Celebrating long-standing relationships

Message Matters has had an eventful first week of existence!

After 20 years of leading VIDEC’s video production services, I’ve now taken the reins from Glenn and Georgia Koogler, and formed Message Matters, LLC.  I will still be distributing our college, university and boarding school presentations on DVD and adding to our already established web-based production efforts. Of course, the formation of Message Matters was celebrated (where else?) on the road.

I spent a day at the University of Hartford, shooting updates to the admission office’s existing Video Visit. I couldn’t think of a more fitting place to be, as I’ve been working with Rick Zeiser, the Dean of Admission at the university, for 20 years.

Long-standing, professional and personal relationships will continue to be a hallmark of Message Matters.
